Good Shepherd Credit Union Celebrates 50 Year of Service in 2007!
GSCU was established October 15, 1957 to serve the financial needs of the parishioners of
Christ the Good Shepherd parish. At that time, the credit union was located in a church school office.
From 1958 to 1959, GSCU was located in a house owned by the church.
In 1960, GSCU was moved to 3856 Moran Street, in Lincoln Park.
The credit union included St. Pius of Southgate and St. Cyprian of Riverview parishes in its field of membership in 1969.
In 1975, the credit union built its current location to service the members at 4111 Fort Street in Lincoln Park.
Our drive-thru office located at 4085 Fort Street, was built in 1986 across the side street from the main office where it still remains.
A complete renovation of the main office was done in 1993.
By 2002, GSCU was servicing parishioners from an additional sixteen local parishes along with numerous parish schools and certain Catholic organizations.
After careful planning and consideration a branch office was built in 2003 at 22170 Allen Road, Woodhaven. This location allowed us to establish our identity in an area perfectly situated for credit union expansion. It also offered our existing membership, many of whom have relocated from our main office vicinity an opportunity to visit the credit union closer to home.
To remain competitive in the credit union industry, GSCU expanded its field of membership charter to include; Individuals who worship, live, work or are educated in the cities of: Ecorse, River Rouge, Allen Park, Flat Rock, Gibraltar, Lincoln Park, Melvindale, Riverview, Rockwood, Southgate, Trenton, Woodhaven, Wyandotte, Brownstown or Grosse Ile, Michigan in May, 2004.
To this day and moving forward into the future, Good Shepherd Credit Union remains and will remain committed to providing affordable, friendly and professional services to its members.
